Erin Van Patter

She /Her Registered Social Worker, MSW, RSW Psychotherapist

Headshot of Erin Van Patter

It can feel overwhelming to know where to start, how to balance life’s demands, or how to navigate the complexities of our own mental health, our relationships, and our family functioning. Life is complicated, and so are people. Feeling stressed, uncertain, or unsure about starting therapy—or returning to it—is completely normal. That’s why I’m here. I offer a supportive, grounded space to help individuals and couples make sense of mental health barriers, relationship challenges, parenting pressures, and life transitions. Together, we work toward clarity, stronger connections, and practical ways forward, using approaches that are thoughtfully tailored to you, your relationships, and your goals.

Erin works with children, teens, adults, and couples navigating stress, relationship challenges, parenting pressures, and life transitions. With experience in both the school board and private practice, she brings a broad understanding of the diverse circumstances clients face and offers thoughtful, adaptable support. Erin has a particular interest in supporting couples who want to strengthen their relationship while managing the demands of parenting and family life. Her client-centered approach draws on evidence-informed modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, strengths-based work, and components of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).

Her practice places strong emphasis on building a trusting therapeutic relationship so each client feels seen, heard, and understood. Erin’s approach is non-judgmental, compassionate, and often includes humour, creating a supportive and comfortable environment for meaningful growth.

Erin works best with individuals and couples who are curious about themselves and their relationships, motivated to make positive changes, and seeking a therapeutic experience that feels both productive and approachable.

“All you’ve got to do is show up. I’ll help with the rest.”
